There's a front yard on McLean Crescent in Manotick that, on the right morning, smells like the best bakery you've ever walked into. No storefront. No sign. Just a cart, a cash box, and loaves of sourdough that sell out before most people have had their first coffee.
That's Ria's Sourdough Micro Bakery & Bouquets — and it's one of the most charming things happening in this village right now.
What She Makes
The lineup changes, but on any given cart day you might find sourdough sandwich loaves, carrot cake and banana bread mini loaves, herb & garlic bagels, pretzels, hamburger buns, brown butter chocolate chip cookies, fudgy brownies, and sourdough pancake mix to take home. She also does beautiful fresh flower bouquets.
Everything is made in small batches. Everything sells out. That's not a marketing line — it's just the reality of a one-person micro bakery that people drive across the village for.
How It Works
Ria posts her cart hours same-day on Facebook. It's self-serve and cash only. You show up, you pick what you want, you leave the money in the cash box. It's about as old-school and trust-based as you can get in 2026 — and it works perfectly.

If you've been looking for a reason to slow down and appreciate what makes Manotick different from every other suburb in Ottawa — this is it. A neighbour baking bread in her home and selling it from her front yard. It doesn't get more village than that.
